Accepting Applications for the 2019 Criminal Justice Learning Collaboratives! 

SAMHSA’s GAINS Center is accepting applications for FIVE Learning Collaborative opportunities.

Each Learning Collaborative will bring together six local teams for an intensive learning, strategic planning, and implementation process to address local issues and needs within a given topic area.

Each Learning Collaborative will engage subject-matter experts and facilitate peer-to-peer learning among participating teams and information sharing.

 The application deadline for all topics is Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

Applicants selected for a GAINS Criminal Justice Learning Collaborative will participate in a 1.5-2 day virtual event on the respective topic.

Following the virtual event, each participating community will receive follow-up technical assistance via monthly collaborative calls and a 1-day site visit by subject-matter experts to facilitate continued work toward achieving the implementation goals identified in the action plan developed during the topical, virtual event.

  • SAMHSA’S EIGHT GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE​

IMPROVING RISK-NEED-RESPONSIVITY POLICIES AND PRACTICE IN ADULT DRUG COURTS AND REENTRY PROGRAMS -- Deadline Jan. 22, 2019
  • Focused on advancing policies and practices around Risk-Need-Responsivity in adult drug courts and reentry programs
  • Learning Collaborative virtual meeting dates: Soon to be released

FAMILY TREATMENT COURTS-- Deadline Jan. 22, 2019
  • Designed to improve practice within existing Family Treatment Drug Court programs with an eye toward cross-systems relationships and strategies

Designed for state applicants prepared to focus on legal, clinical, and systemic issues, including the increased demand for competency evaluations, evidence-based screening and assessment measures, wait lists for competency restoration program beds, best practices for competency restoration programs, building collaborations between state and local agencies, and other relevant issues.

​SAMHSA’S EIGHT GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE--Deadline Jan. 22, 2019

Learning Collaborative virtual meeting dates: May 7 and May 8, 2019

Designed to assist community-based behavioral health providers in their clinical and case management practices with persons with mental and substance use disorders who are currently involved with, or have a history of involvement in, the adult criminal justice system.
